Why didn’t you listen to the doctor’s advice?

”Medical advice”, the modern Chinese dictionary interpretation is “doctor according to the condition and treatment of the needs of the patient in the diet, medication, laboratory tests and other aspects of the instructions”. But the reporter found in the past few days through the survey, for the doctor’s words, a significant proportion of patients and families do not “cold”, the reasons for which there are two main: the medical advice does not pay attention to the doctor, the doctor does not trust. Case: not listening to medical advice, the young man went blind From the initial diabetes, to later kidney disease, from the beginning of blindness, and then to the final amputation, less than 50 years old, Mr. Zhao in addition to regret, or regret! The reason for this series of tragedies was that he did not listen to the doctor’s advice. Because he didn’t listen to the doctor, he not only lost his health, but even his family. Six years ago, Mr. Zhao, who lives in Qiaoxi District of the provincial capital, was a busy businessman. Due to work-related reasons, he went out socially extraordinarily often, all day is a big fish and meat, drinking wine is no restraint. Until one day, Mr. Zhao felt weakness in his limbs, nausea and vomiting, and his body was obviously thinning, only after his family persuaded him to come to Hebei Medical University Hospital. Here, the examination revealed that the main cause of his above symptoms was diabetes. That year, Mr. Zhao was 39 years old. ”Diabetes, which required a period of hospitalization for standardized treatment.” Mr. Zhao believed that, at that time, his business was so busy and so hot that he had no time to receive treatment, “Besides, diabetes is not a major disease that kills people, and it will be fine after a few infusions.” “If diabetes is not given enough attention, once it is allowed to develop, the consequences are unimaginable.” Nevertheless, Zhou Huimin persuaded Mr. Zhao with all her heart and soul. However, on account of his youth, Mr. Zhao, who used his business as an excuse, did not pay enough attention to it. The doctor prescribed medicine, do not eat; doctor requested hospitalization, do not live; doctor requested infusion, do not lose. After five years of intermittent treatment, Mr. Zhao’s health declined more and more: weakness in his limbs, nausea and vomiting, and alarmingly high blood sugar and blood pressure. More worryingly, his body began to swell. The doctor found through examination that Mr. Zhao’s kidneys were in trouble, only the problem was not very serious. However, all this still did not attract enough attention from Mr. Zhao. After a period of treatment, he still stayed up late, still ate and drank a lot, and still had an irregular life. Faced with these behaviors of Mr. Zhao, Huimin Zhou was helpless and more anxious. In the face of Huimin Zhou’s persuasion, Mr. Zhao continues to do what he wants. In September of last year, the thing that made Huimin Zhou worry appeared: Mr. Zhao’s eyes could not see anything, due to foot pain and walking more and more strained up, the swelling of the limbs also more serious. Huimin Zhou said, “The patient’s condition was heavy at this time, with kidney failure, myocardial infarction and other series of symptoms, plus the wound on the leg could not heal, and had to have a leg amputated.” On the day of the amputation, Mr. Zhao regretted a million times: “If I had listened to the doctor, I’m sure this would not have happened!” “If he had listened to the doctor and received treatment in time, and had changed his bad habits, the subsequent tragedy would not have happened.” Vivian Zhou said with regret that this tragedy could have been avoided! Unfortunately, there is no if! Interview: doctor’s words, most patients choose to “listen” around the “medical advice”, the reporter in succession to the provincial capital of the major hospitals and outpatient 50 patients and family members intercepted interviews, the following is the survey transcript: Question one. “The doctor’s words, whether to listen or not?” In the face of this question, of the 50 patients and their families interviewed, 27 chose to “listen”, 11 chose to “listen to some”, and 12 chose to “not listen”. Question 2: “Why do you listen or not listen to doctors?” Mr. Wang, the respondent who chose “listen”, said, “The doctor’s words must be unconditionally listened to and unconditionally implemented, after all, health is one’s top priority and cannot be mixed with half water.” Ms. Li, the interviewee who chose to “listen to some”, said, “The doctor’s words can be listened to, but not all listened to, and not all believe, after all, they are still young, their own body knows best, there is no need to care too much about health, too much attention.” Ms. Li also said, “The reason why you can’t trust all the doctors’ words is because individual doctors rely on fooling or scaring to attract patients and gain their trust. The general direction and treatment plan that doctors say can be listened to, but only for reference, you can ask a few more doctors and choose the treatment plan that you think is reasonable and acceptable.” Mr. Kong, who chose not to listen, said, “In the hospital, the last thing I would like to hear from the doctor is ‘the consequences of not listening to me’, which is a terrible thing to say. Now, in some patients, I think there is more or less excessive medical treatment, and some doctors inevitably exaggerate the patient’s condition and thus achieve greater benefits.” Question 3: “What does it take to listen to a doctor?” For this question, Mr. Kong believes that “hospitals and hospital management should strengthen the training of medical ethics and responsibility of doctors, hospitals should not only pursue economic interests, doctors should also do the same, should consider medical ethics as life, put the patient in the first position, respect the patient, and then let the patient spend the least amount of money to see the disease. Only then will patients listen to doctors.” Mr. Kong’s words represent the majority of “do not listen” to the voice of patients. Experts say: lack of communication is the main factor that patients do not trust doctors First of all, patients do not pay enough attention. This is most common in patients who are recovering, and these patients often feel that their condition has gotten better, so they stop treatment. This is common in elderly patients with hypertension, whose blood pressure has dropped to normal and they think there is no need to take medication. The second is to lose confidence in the treatment. After a period of treatment, some patients have no confidence in the treatment because of the slow effect or little effect. After various treatments, patients with prolonged illness lose confidence in curing the disease and are reluctant to treat it, and some even take a negative attitude. Then there is the lack of communication. There are barriers to communication between doctors and patients, which in turn makes patients lose confidence in “medical advice”. ”Doctors and patients are like the relationship between fish and water, no one is missing who. If both sides can communicate and understand more, the doctor has medical ethics, and the patient also follows the patient’s ethics, a harmonious doctor-patient relationship can be achieved.” Zhao Mingyou, a young social scientist in Hebei Province, believes that the direct consequence of distrust of doctors is that patients do not understand the way of treatment, as many conditions are routine conditions, not difficult and complicated, doctors can sometimes see the severity of the disease at a glance, so the diagnosis time is shorter, and often less explanation of the condition, the patient will feel that the doctor does not pay enough attention. “The hours of waiting before a patient’s visit, compared to the few minutes of consultation time, is a great contrast. The intuitive feeling of ‘being perfunctory and dismissed’ creates a lack of trust in the doctor’s diagnosis.” (Excerpted from Yanzhao Evening News) I take a look at the tragedies caused by those who do not listen to medical advice Many patients who come to the hospital do not understand the recommendations of the doctor’s examination, refuse to do the relevant tests, or after the condition has improved, do not follow the medical advice to receive further observation and treatment, resulting in more serious consequences. Case 1: The second CT was used to find out that the heart was stabbed In February this year, Mr. Li was stabbed with a fruit knife in the chest due to a fight, and was sent to the hospital after the film showed that there was no injury to the internal organs. According to the results of the radiographs, the emergency physician was ready to suture and dress the wound according to common trauma. In order to exclude the risk, the receiving doctor called in a cardiologist for consultation, and before suturing, Mr. Li was again subjected to a chest CT examination, which revealed that the wound had penetrated deep into the heart, and Mr. Li was then treated surgically, and Mr. Li turned to safety. According to the doctor, Mr. Li actually did not want to do a second CT examination, and if he did not do it at that time, the consequences would have been unimaginable. Case two did not listen to the doctor’s advice to get tetanus Last March, renovation workers Mr. Wang was accidentally nailed in the work finger, was sent to the city hospital after the disposal of workers, the doctor recommended the injection of tetanus antitoxin. Considering his busy schedule, Mr. Wang did not accept this advice and left on his own. A few weeks later, Mr. Wang appeared weak, headache and other symptoms, to the hospital for examination and diagnosis of tetanus, and only after treatment to recover. Case three: unwilling to take a film, ankle fracture was not found In April this year, Ms. Song fell down from the stone steps accidentally, her right ankle swollen and painful, the doctor suggested that she take a film to confirm the diagnosis of fracture, but Ms. Song thought she could still walk, the problem is not big, refused to take a film, and chose to go home to recuperate. Half a month later, the swelling of her right foot was still not relieved and she went to the hospital to have the film taken to find a fracture and had to undergo surgery. Case 4: Refusal of relevant tests followed by death due to acute illness In October last year, a woman went to the hospital with fever and diarrhea. Due to the unclear diagnosis of the cause, the doctor suggested her to do ECG, brain CT and other relevant tests. The woman wanted to go home on her own to recuperate, so she refused to do the relevant tests. Some time later, the woman died due to acute severe myocarditis.
