What to do if your ferritin is high

Fein is the most sensitive indicator of iron deficiency in the body, and if there is a high level of ferritin, then there is a problem in the body, either because of poor ferritin utilization, or because of impaired ferritin clearance, or for a third reason, because of increased ferritin synthesis. The increase in ferritin synthesis can be physiological, such as high oxygen demand in athletes, which leads to the synthesis of ferritin, or it can be caused by some kind of malignancy, the presence of which can also lead to increased ferritin synthesis.

Fein is an important indicator of the presence of liver cancer in the body, and is often used in conjunction with a test for methemoglobin.

Of course, it’s not all liver cancer, it could be other cancers as well. In short, high ferritin suggests a possible cancer risk and requires aggressive testing. If the test results are cancerous, then prompt treatment is needed, and ferritin will drop after cancer chemotherapy or surgical removal.

If the first two causes of high ferritin are present, then the cause needs to be sought immediately and found so that treatment can be administered promptly.
