Survival of gastric cancer with abdominal metastasis

The survival of gastric cancer patients with abdominal metastasis is relatively low, and the survival of 5-year clinical observation is likely to be reduced to less than 20%. If abdominal metastasis occurs, it can be treated with intraperitoneal thermoperfusion chemotherapy or other targeted therapies, which may extend the survival period by 1-2 years. Despite the application of various means to treat abdominal metastasis, abdominal metastasis is already in the middle or late stage of gastric cancer and the treatment effect is relatively poor. Patients often develop metastases in all organs of the body except the abdominal cavity within a short period of time, and they will soon enter a state of failure. Therefore, some serious patients may die within 0.5 to 1 year due to life-threatening effects. Therefore, for gastric cancer patients with abdominal metastasis, taking active treatment measures as much as possible can effectively improve patients’ survival period and quality of life.
