The normal 24-hour urine volume for adults is between 400 and 2500 ml, mostly between 1000 and 2000 ml. Adults with a 24-hour urine output of less than 400 ml are considered oliguric, while those with an output of more than 2500 ml are considered polyuric, so the total 24-hour urine output of a normal adult is between 400 and 2500 ml. The vast majority of adults urinate between 1,000 and 2,000 ml. Urine output fluctuates in relation to the amount of water intake and the amount of water drained in other ways, such as sweating. If you drink too much water you can have a urine output greater than 2500ml, if you sweat too much, drink less water or have a fever you can have a urine output less than 400ml. If the urine volume is out of the normal range for a long time, it may be caused by diseases, such as chronic renal insufficiency can lead to a decrease in urine volume, diabetes mellitus, uremia and so on can lead to an increase in urine volume, so long-term abnormal urine volume needs to go to the hospital to improve the relevant examination.
