Beiqi should refer to Astragalus, which has the effects of tonifying Qi and consolidating the epidermis (consolidating the muscle surface by tonifying Qi), diuretic and toxin, draining pus, and astringing sores and promoting the growth of muscle (helping the sores to heal more quickly and promoting the growth of new flesh). Astragalus is slightly warm in nature, sweet in flavor, and belongs to the spleen and lung meridians. It is used in treating spleen deficiency and qi deficiency, loose food (thin and unformed feces), prolonged diarrhea and prolapse of the anus, prolapse of internal organs, blood in the stools and leakage of blood (excessive or dripping menstruation), lung qi deficiency, sweating from a deficient surface (frequent and natural sweating due to a weak muscular surface), and edema due to qi deficiency. It can also be used to treat blood deficiency with yellowish color, internal heat and thirst (internal fever accompanied by symptoms such as excessive eating, drinking and urinating), hemiplegia (inability to move one side of the limb at will), numbness and pain in the joints with unfavorable flexion and extension, and ulcers that are difficult to ulcerate or sores that do not easily heal after ulceration. Adverse effects and contraindications of Astragalus are not known. Drugs must be used under the guidance of a doctor, do not blindly self-medication, so as not to delay the condition.
