Causes of Muscle Neuralgia

The causes of muscular nerve pain are complex and varied, with herniated discs, severe trauma, shingles, and other factors.

A herniated disc compresses the sciatic nerve, causing the sciatic nerve to become entrapped and damaged at the disc, spine, and spinal cord, and the sciatic innervated muscles of the lower back, buttocks, and legs can produce muscular nerve pain.

Serious trauma causing muscle lacerations or contusions of the nerves can also lead to musculoskeletal neuralgia.

A lowered immune system is also a high risk factor for the development of shingles, which can cause neuropathic pain in the low back area as well as in the surrounding muscles and skin.

Other causes of muscular neuralgia can be seen, and patients are advised to visit a hospital and follow medical advice on the cause.
