Stage 2a colon cancer generally has a lower chance of recurrence if it is treated with standardized treatment; if it is not treated with standardized treatment, it has a higher chance of recurrence.
Stage 2a colon cancer generally refers to stage IIA, which represents that the patient’s colon cancer does not have lymphatic metastasis yet, but the cancer cells have begun to invade the muscle layer of the patient’s intestinal wall, though they have not penetrated the plasma membrane. After standardized treatment, the chance of recurrence of stage IIA colon cancer is not very high, but the chance of recurrence is higher if it is delayed or not treated by standardized treatment.
The chance of recurrence of stage II colon cancer is generally in the range of 10% to 20%, which is not yet clear. Early stage colon cancer patients have higher survival rate, about 90% of patients can survive more than 5 years; while 5-year survival rate of patients with localized progression decreases, and patients with extensive metastasis have shorter survival cycle.
It is recommended that patients actively cooperate with the treatment. Early-stage patients can get some relief of symptoms after timely and effective treatment, and the relative prognosis is better; at the same time, healthy diet, eat more food containing dietary fiber, and ensure adequate intake of vitamins and other vitamins.
