Pulmonary encephalopathy is caused by respiratory diseases, brain tissue damage and cerebral circulatory disorders after the emergence of hypoxia and hypercapnia.

The main clinical manifestations include mental symptoms such as trance, drowsiness, verbosity, delirium, irritability, tetany, epileptic seizures, fluttering tremor, coma, etc.; ocular manifestations such as microtia of the eyeballs, bulbar conjunctival congestion, edema, fundus venosus tortuosity, dilatation, optic papillae edema, etc.; and meningeal irritation sign, intracranial hypertension and cerebral herniation.

Pulmonary encephalopathy is a more serious complication of respiratory failure, which can be life-threatening, so it is recommended to go to the hospital in time when the above symptoms occur, and have regular treatment as soon as possible.
