The difference between uric acid and proteinuria

Uric acid and proteinuria are two completely different concepts. First of all, elevated uric acid is caused by long-term alcohol consumption or eating a lot of purine-rich food, which metabolizes uric acid in the body, and elevated uric acid then causes gouty arthritis. Proteinuria is often due to kidney problems, such as glomerulonephritis and nephrotic syndrome, causing protein loss from the urine, which in turn causes limb edema, hypoproteinemia and other risks. Therefore, elevated uric acid and proteinuria are two completely different concepts. Patients should go to a general hospital for relevant examinations to further clarify which aspect is the problem in order to provide targeted treatment to avoid delaying the condition.
