Approximate cost of electrophysiological examination

The cost of electrophysiological examination includes the cost of electrophysiological procedures, radiological examinations and materials. The amount of each local charge and materials actually varies depending on each patient’s condition, usually around 4,000-6,000 RMB. The electrophysiological examination is performed in a special cardiac catheterization room. On the day of the examination, the nurse will push the patient into the cardiac catheterization room with a mobile surgical bed and then move him or her to the X-ray examination bed. The skin is first thoroughly disinfected at the insertion site, such as the groin, arm, shoulder and neck, and a local anesthetic drug is injected locally. The skin is then broken open and a puncture needle is used to pierce a blood vessel, usually a vein. The electrophysiological examination involves the insertion of an electrophysiological catheter into the body, which is a long, curved catheter that transmits electrical impulse signals into and out of the heart, and the implantation of 2-4 standard test catheters. The catheter is usually guided by a television screen and monitor, which is placed in the heart. The electrophysiological examination consists mainly of recording electrophysiological signals, where the electrode catheter senses electrical activity in different parts of the heart and detects the conduction rate of electrical impulses; in addition, it allows cardiac pacing, where the electrode catheter can deliver weak electrical stimulation to pace the heart in order to induce arrhythmias, allowing the physician to observe these abnormal heart rhythms under artificially controlled conditions. Electrophysiological examinations can help the physician find the exact site of abnormal electrical activity, a process generally called labeling, which can determine the site and type of origin of the arrhythmia and help the physician choose the best treatment. The materials used for such catheters, electrodes, and vascular sheaths for puncturing blood vessels above are all single-use.
