The exact location of the Zhongdu point is on the inner side of the lower leg, in the center of the inner side of the tibia, 7 inches above the tip of the inner ankle.
Zhongdu point belongs to the Liver meridian of the foot syncope and is a Qie point of the foot syncope. There are branches of the saphenous nerve and the saphenous vein on the inner and posterior side of the point. It has the effect of dispersing the liver and regulating qi, regulating menstruation and stopping bleeding. This point is mainly used for treating small abdominal pain, hernia, metrorrhagia (excessive menstruation or more than a few drops of menstruation), incomplete menstrual discharge, impotence and paralysis of the lower limbs (lower limbs that are weak and painful with numbness), and diarrhea.
Zhongdu point is the intersection of the liver meridian and the spleen meridian, and is characterized by sensory transmission to both sides of the liver, so it is often used to treat diseases of the liver and spleen meridians. Zhongdu is often combined with other acupoints, such as Qihai for the treatment of post-partum discharge; and Liver Yu and Taichong for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.
It is important to note that acupuncture treatment should be operated by professional acupuncturists, and should not be operated blindly by oneself in order to avoid causing injuries.
