Pregnant women can use Poria and Gorgonzola as prescribed by their doctors if indicated.
1. Poria is the dried mycelium of the fungus Poria, family Polyporaceae. It is sweet and light in nature. Attributed to the heart, kidney, spleen, lung meridian. Its effects are strengthening the spleen, inducing diuresis and seepage of dampness (promoting the flow of water to dispel dampness), and tranquilizing the mind and tranquilizing the spirit.
It can be used clinically to treat edema, phlegm (pathological product formed by impaired water-liquid metabolism), diarrhea due to deficiency of the spleen, loose stools (thin and unshaped feces), palpitation and insomnia, and other diseases. Yin deficiency without dampness and heat, cold and essence of slippery, qi deficiency and subsidence should be taken with caution.
2. Gorgon fruit is the mature seed kernel of the water lily plant gorgonian. It is sweet and astringent in nature. It belongs to the spleen and kidney meridian. Its function is to benefit the kidney to consolidate essence, remove dampness to stop the belt, strengthen the spleen to stop diarrhea. Clinically, it can be used to treat seminal emission and slippery semen, dysuria and frequent urination, leucorrhea (cloudy urine like white slurry), and leucorrhea. It should not be taken by those who have adverse urination and defecation; and should be taken with caution by those who have food stagnation.
