Neostigmine has anticholinesterase properties and acts to rescue poisoning from belladonna, mandrake, scopolamine, atropine and antagonize the muscarinic effects of non-depolarizing muscle relaxants, myasthenia gravis, glaucoma and so on. Neostigmine is an anticholinesterase drug, clinically used in the treatment of myasthenia gravis and other diseases, but also can be used for paralytic bowel obstruction and postoperative urinary retention. Common adverse reactions to neostigmine include: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea; bradycardia, hypotension; ataxia, convulsions, coma; salivation, profuse sweating, and irritability. Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to neostigmine; in patients with epilepsy, angina pectoris, ventricular tachycardia, mechanical intestinal or urinary tract obstruction, and asthma; in patients with cardiac arrhythmias, sinus bradycardia, decreased blood pressure, and elevated vagal tone; and in patients with bronchial asthma. Use with caution in patients with hyperthyroidism and Parkinson’s disease. The above drugs need to be used under the guidance of a doctor, do not use on your own, so as not to delay the condition.
