Intussusception is a strangulated intestinal obstruction in which a portion of the intestinal canal becomes lodged in a nearby intestinal cavity. The age of onset is usually under two years, especially in infants aged 4 to 10 months. The main manifestations are paroxysmal crying, vomiting, blood in the stool or jam-like stools. The examination can be done by ultrasound of the abdomen, which indicates concentric circles or sleeve signs, and the treatment of intussusception can be done by air enema.
