What are the tests to confirm the diagnosis of stomach cancer?

At present, the most accurate way to diagnose stomach cancer in China is gastroscopy, which can be easily performed in most hospitals, including county and city hospitals. Gastroscopy is painful and requires entering the stomach through the oral cavity and esophagus for examination, so painless gastroscopy can be performed in hospitals with better conditions. There are other methods that are not as accurate as gastroscopy, but they can also be used to assist in diagnosis, such as abdominal enhancement CT to see whether there is thickening of the stomach wall and whether there are abnormal signals; magnetic resonance imaging of the stomach and upper gastrointestinal tract imaging are also helpful, and in many primary hospitals, upper gastrointestinal tract imaging is very good for the diagnosis of gastric cancer and esophageal cancer, and it is painless and convenient. During the upper gastrointestinal imaging, only about one glass of milk is used for the contrast agent, and the contrast agent has basically no toxic side effects on people, and gastric lesions can be detected in a few minutes after fluoroscopy. If the tumor markers related to gastric cancer are abnormally elevated, it also has certain significance for the diagnosis of gastric cancer; and fecal occult blood, if the fecal test reveals that no meat or animal blood products have been consumed, and no such food has been consumed in the past few days, it is also helpful for indicating gastric cancer, colorectal cancer and other gastrointestinal tumors. As I told you at the beginning, gastroscopy is the most accurate, so when you have stomach discomfort, it is accurate and convenient to go to the hospital for gastroscopy.
