Coffee spots are not necessarily neurofibromatosis.
Usually there are coffee spots on the body surface, if the range is large and formed in many places, it is often considered as neurofibromatosis, which is a kind of autosomal dominant disease, mainly caused by gene mutation, and there is a family history of neurofibromatosis, which is more common in the clinic.
Some cafe-au-lait spots are birthmarks, the cause of which is still unclear. Of course, besides coffee color, there are also dark red, black and so on, which are not uncommon, but they are not neurofibromatosis.
Coffee spots can also be formed by other reasons, such as prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays outdoors, age spots of the elderly, etc., which often cause coffee-colored patches to appear on the skin, but the coffee spots formed by the above reasons are not neurofibromatosis.
It is recommended that patients with café-au-lait spots should go to regular hospitals for medical treatment, and the doctor should judge whether the café-au-lait spots are neurofibromatosis according to their size, number, time of occurrence, and whether they are accompanied by multiple neurofibromas, and so on.
