Role of the San Jiao Meridian

The San Jiao meridian, or the Triple Burner of the Shaoyang of the Hand, can be used to treat conditions such as edema, enuresis, dysuria (uncontrolled urination), and tinnitus. The Hand Shaoyang Sanjiao starts from the end of the ring finger, goes up between the 4th and 5th metacarpal bones, along the back of the wrist, between the radius and ulna on the outer side of the forearm, passes upward through the tip of the elbow, along the outer side of the upper arm, goes up to the shoulder, intersects the back of the Foot Shaoyang Meridian, enters the lack of pelvis area in the forward direction, distributes itself in the middle of the chest, liaises with the pericardium, and passes downward through the diaphragm, from the chest to the abdomen. It belongs to the upper, middle and lower San Jiao. The Hand Shaoyang Sanjiao treats other diseases of the lateral head, ears, eyes, chest and hypochondrium (a collective term for the chest and ribcage area), throat and other diseases in the areas where the meridians circulate. Examples include edema, enuresis, dysuria, tinnitus, deafness, redness of the eyes, sore throat, and pain behind the ears and in the outer part of the shoulders and arms.
