Elderly people with testicular inflammation should have a resection if strict and standardized conservative treatment is ineffective and testicular swelling does not decrease.
Orchitis is an infectious disease caused by pathogenic bacteria, viruses, chlamydia and other pathogens. Sexual transmission can lead to orchitis, as can non-sexual routes of transmission such as mumps and tuberculosis of the reproductive system.
After urologic confirmation of the diagnosis and strict and standardized conservative treatment, testicular swelling does not improve, at which point it should be removed. However, elderly patients require a comprehensive evaluation of the underlying disease and other physical conditions to determine the patient’s tolerance level for surgery, which needs to be performed under close supervision.
