Semixia Houpu Tang is used to treat plum nucleus qi, not cough, and patients are advised to follow the doctor’s instructions. Semixia Houpu Tang is composed of Semixia, Poria and Houpu. It has the efficacy of moving qi and opening up depression, lowering rebelliousness and resolving phlegm (correcting retrograde qi and clearing phlegm from the body). It is used for treating phlegm and saliva in the throat of women, such as sizzling slices (phlegm and saliva in the throat); phlegm and saliva formed by the qi of joy, anger, sadness, thinking, worry, fear and shock, which are like broken floss or plum nuclei in the pharynx and throat, and which can not be clucked out or swallowed, and which are caused by these seven qi. Half-summer and thick-park soup is also used for the treatment of mid-epigastric plumpness (stomach distension and discomfort), uncomfortable qi, or phlegm and saliva congestion (abnormal phlegm and excessive production of saliva), asthma and shortness of breath, or vomiting and nausea due to phlegm-drinking (a pathological product of impaired metabolism of fluids and water) in the middle of the knot. Patients are advised to use the medicine under the supervision of a doctor.
