What are the clinical manifestations of hyperthyroidism?

  Hyperthyroidism is a clinical syndrome caused by excessive secretion of thyroid hormones due to various factors, resulting in increased excitability and hyper-metabolism of the nervous, circulatory and digestive systems, with an annual incidence of about 1%, 2%-5% in women and 0.2% in men. The most common clinical manifestation is diffuse toxic goiter (GD), with an annual incidence of about 5 per 10,000 people.  The clinical manifestations of hyperthyroidism are mainly in the following nine areas: 1. Hypermetabolic syndrome: fear of heat and sweating, warm and moist skin, fatigue and weakness, increased food intake, easy hunger and weight loss. 2.  2. Mental and neurological symptoms: talkative, nervous, irritable, restless, insomnia, lack of concentration and memory loss. Sometimes there are hallucinations, and even manifest as sub-mania or schizophrenia. Occasionally, it manifests as oligophrenia and depression and apathy. There may also be reaching, eyelid and tongue tremor, etc.  3, cardiovascular manifestations: palpitations and increased heart rate are most common, the rest may have chest tightness, shortness of breath, etc.. In severe cases or those with a long history of the disease, atrial fibrillation, heart enlargement and heart failure may be combined. A small number of patients have blood pressure changes, manifested as increased systolic blood pressure, decreased diastolic blood pressure and increased pulse pressure.  4. Digestive system: hyperphagia, hyperphagia, increased stool frequency and thinness are often observed. Older patients with hyperthyroidism may have loss of appetite and anorexia.  5. Musculoskeletal system: Most patients have muscle weakness and muscle atrophy. A small number of patients may have periodic paralysis due to reduced potassium, especially in Asian men.  6, reproductive system: female patients often have reduced menstrual flow, amenorrhea, irregular menstruation, and even infertility; male patients may have impotence, male breast development, etc.  7. Thyroid symptoms: there is discomfort in the anterior neck area with diffuse and symmetrical enlargement.  8. Eye symptoms: Some patients may have protruding eyes, photophobia, lacrimation, and stinging pain.  9.Other: a few patients will have anemia, etc.  Of course, a patient has two or three aspects of the symptoms are very obvious, usually not all nine symptoms will be very obvious.
