Association between cholesterol and coronary heart disease

There is a saying in life: “Aging begins in the blood vessels”, which is a perfect description of the aging process. Arteries gradually harden with age, and cholesterol goes hand in hand with the development of arteriosclerosis. It can be said in general that people with high plasma cholesterol are prone to coronary heart disease, but it is important to understand that about 50% of plasma cholesterol is found in LDL and about 30% in HDL. Only the cholesterol in LDL can be deposited in the intima of arteries to form atheromatous plaques, thus contributing to the occurrence and development of coronary heart disease. Although high-density lipoprotein also contains more cholesterol, it can transport cholesterol away from the arterial intima, thus preventing the formation of atheromatous plaque, and obviously, it has the effect of preventing coronary heart disease. Therefore, the same high plasma cholesterol may not be the same. If only the plasma LDL is increased, you are prone to coronary heart disease, especially if you have a family history of increased LDL, you are more likely to develop coronary heart disease early. If the plasma HDL is increased, it is not easy to suffer from coronary heart disease, and more long life. Therefore, in order to prevent and control coronary heart disease, we should try to lower plasma LDL levels and increase plasma HDL levels. As an important factor affecting blood lipid level, we should pay attention to eat less animal fat containing saturated fatty acid, such as lard, butter, fatty meat and various dairy products, and also eat less food containing more cholesterol, such as muffin egg, egg yolk, fish roe, brain, liver, kidney, intestine and scallop, etc. We should eat more vegetable oil such as corn oil, sunflower oil, sesame oil, soybean oil and vegetable oil containing unsaturated fatty acid, and the Ratio increase can promote the excretion of cholesterol in the body.
