Black mud-like material dug out of the ear is seen clinically in the following two conditions. The first condition, ear canal cerumen. The cerumen has been stored in the external ear canal for a long time and may have some local decay infection, even including some odor or something like that. For this condition, it is generally not recommended that patients pull out the earwax by themselves, as it can easily damage the outer ear canal wall and is not easy to pull out cleanly. It is recommended that the patient go to the hospital and let the doctor do the suction treatment of the ear canal with a suction device to suck out the cerumen. If the cerumen is deep and hard, you can also soften it with sodium bicarbonate ear drops and rinse it out with saline after 2-3 days. This is safer and can be flushed out thoroughly. In the second case, the patient has fungal otitis externa, which can appear as a black fungal mass-like mass. In this case, the doctor needs to clean these fungal masses first and then apply antifungal ointment in the ear canal for symptomatic treatment.
