The benefits and effects of Sophora are mainly cooling the blood and stopping bleeding (cooling and moisturizing the blood to prevent bleeding), and clearing the liver and diarrhea (removing liver fire). It is more effective in recognizing and treating the symptoms. Sophora can clear heat and cool blood (relieve blood heat by clearing heat), stop bleeding, and can be used clinically to treat intestinal wind and blood in stools, hemorrhoidal bleeding, blood in urine, hemorrhagic drenching (the appearance of blood in urine with pain), metrorrhagia (excessive menstrual flow or spotting), nosebleeds, and red-white dysentery. Sophora japonica also has the effects of clearing the liver and improving eyesight (removing liver fire to promote vision recovery) and diarrhea. It is used for liver-heat headache, wind-heat eyesight, redness, swelling and pain. Adverse reactions are not clear, for the spleen and stomach cold (spleen and stomach weak cold) people are not allowed to eat acacia flowers, or may lead to aggravation of the condition. Patients are advised to seek prompt medical attention if they are unwell, and Sophora must be consulted with a doctor before use to avoid delays.
