Calcined ochre, the concoction of ochre, is used for the treatment of vertigo and tinnitus, etc. It should be used in accordance with medical advice.
Calcined ochre is bitter in flavor and cold in nature. It belongs to the heart, liver, lung and stomach meridians. Calcined ochre can be used for vomiting, hiccups, wheezing, vertigo and tinnitus, vomiting blood, nosebleeds, and bleeding underneath (excessive or dribbling menstrual flow).
Calcined ochre is made from clean ochre, calcined until red, immediately plunged into rice vinegar to soak and quench, and then fished out to dry. Calcined ochre after concoction reduces the bitter and cold nature of ochre, enhances the efficacy of calming the liver and stopping bleeding, and is easy to be crushed after calcination and easy to be decocted to extract the active ingredients.
Ochre should be taken with caution by pregnant women. The adverse effects of this drug are not clear, and should be used reasonably under the guidance of a doctor.
