This year, June 28 is the fourth “International Epilepsy Care Day”, and the Epilepsy Center of Baotou Medical College Epilepsy Institute and Baomedical First Affiliated Hospital has launched a series of treatment activities for epilepsy patients.
According to the World Health Organization, there are about 50 million people with epilepsy in the world, and about 9 million in China, with 400,000 to 500,000 new cases each year. At least 65% of this large group of patients have not been formally treated, and they are ashamed of their social activities, daily interactions, and even avoid getting married and having children, so they cannot enjoy their family life. They suffer from pain and suffering, what is their crime? Dong Yanfang, Department of Neurosurgery, The First Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College
The Epilepsy Institute of Baotou Medical College and the Epilepsy Center of the First Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College were formally established in 2009 with the approval of Baotou Medical College and the First Affiliated Hospital. The Center integrates the technical advantages of neurology, surgery, pediatrics, imaging and other related departments to provide epilepsy patients with formal and comprehensive treatment plans. The center has the most advanced epilepsy positioning treatment system (“epilepsy knife”) and professional medical and technical team, and maintains technical cooperation with famous epilepsy centers in China to provide patients with the most advanced “surgery for epilepsy” technology and standardized medication. The center has shown its ability to provide the most advanced “surgical treatment of epilepsy” and standardized drug treatment since its establishment.
Since its establishment, the center has shown its advantages and has completed the medical treatment of hundreds of patients and the surgical treatment of dozens of epilepsy patients, which has gained the trust and praise of the majority of patients, and now there are patients from neighboring provinces and cities come to see us. Especially, the new technology of “surgery for epilepsy” has become a new star in the treatment of epilepsy in Inner Mongolia and even in the surrounding areas.
The medical staff of the center has received strong support from the leaders of the medical school and the First Affiliated Hospital, and has attended many large conferences and study sessions in the field of epilepsy in China, focusing on continuous learning and updating knowledge. At the same time, we regularly hold “epilepsy patients’ meetings” to teach them the latest treatment trends in China and actively demonstrate the center’s treatment progress, so that patients can enhance their confidence in treating the disease.
On the occasion of the fourth International Epilepsy Care Day on June 28, we will continue to devote our love and care to epilepsy patients in Baotou and surrounding areas, saving them from running around for the disease and providing them with advanced treatment services in China with enthusiasm. Let’s join hands to help them! Together we care for life and epilepsy!
The following activities will be launched during the event.
1. June 28th in the outpatient hall of the First Affiliated Hospital of Pao Medicine, a large charity clinic
2. 10% fee reduction for “Video EEG” (from now until July 10)
