When does hepatitis B require antiviral

Patients with hepatitis B need antiviral therapy in cases of abnormal liver function. Abnormal liver function indicates that the hepatitis B virus is invading the liver and destroying liver cells. Anti-viral is most effective if the transaminases are at 2-4 times the upper limit of normal. Hepatitis B patients with normal liver function need antiviral therapy in four cases: i. Antiviral therapy is needed when liver fibrosis reaches a severe level or higher on liver transient elastometry or liver biopsy. II. If the ultrasound findings reach cirrhosis, antiviral therapy is required. Third, if you are over 40 years old and have a family history of liver cancer, you need antiviral treatment. IV. Pregnant women with hepatitis B viral load over 1 million at 24-28 weeks of gestation also need antiviral treatment.
