Thyroid nodule TI-RADS grade 3 and how to treat it

Thyroid nodules TI-RADS grade 3 are treated with follow-up observation, surgery, and medication.
Thyroid nodule TI-RADS grade 3 is a kind of grading under ultrasound, which belongs to possibly benign nodules with low risk of malignancy, usually less than 2%, and usually only need regular follow-up, and if necessary, need to carry out a puncture biopsy of the thyroid nodule, and according to the results of the biopsy to carry out the next step of treatment. Surgery is recommended for malignant thyroid nodules, including total or partial thyroidectomy.
For benign, asymptomatic thyroid nodules without thyroid function abnormalities, follow-up observation is recommended; for hyperthyroidism, it can be relieved by taking drugs that inhibit thyroid synthesis, such as propylthiouracil, and iodine radiation therapy; for hypothyroidism, it can be treated by taking levothyroxine. Surgery is also needed when benign nodules become too large and cause pressure symptoms.
In the case of TI-RADS grade 3 thyroid nodules, it is recommended to go to the hospital and ask the doctor to make a judgment and treat the nodule under the doctor’s guidance.
