The exact location of the cervical opening

The normal cervical opening is located at the top of the vagina and is mainly held in place by four ligaments, the two main ligaments and the two uterosacral ligaments. However, in the case of pelvic organs, such as uterine prolapse, the position of the cervical opening will change according to the severity of the condition, and in severe cases, flesh-like tissues can even be detected in the vaginal opening and come to the hospital for consultation, and the tissues detached from the vaginal opening will be found to be the cervix during examination. When the uterus is prolapsed, the position of the cervical opening will change with the change of the condition, the more serious the prolapse, the closer the position of the cervical opening will be to the vaginal opening, or even completely prolapsed from the vaginal opening. Therefore, the patient is instructed to lie down and hold her breath downward, and the lowest point of the lower uterine segment is used as the grading criterion, i.e., the lowest point reached by the external cervical opening, to make a diagnosis and assessment, and to give the correct treatment.
