Hypothyroidism, also known as hypothyroidism, is a disease in which the synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones are reduced, or their physiological effects are insufficient, leading to a decrease in the body’s metabolism, which can be completely cured in some patients. If the hypothyroidism is caused by acute or subacute thyroiditis, it is usually curable. In the case of hypothyroidism due to Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and atrophic thyroiditis, it is usually not completely curable. In this case one must rely entirely on exogenous supplementation with levothyroxine. If hypothyroidism occurs after iodine 131 treatment and surgery for hyperthyroidism, it is also usually incurable and requires thyroxine supplementation. It is recommended that after diagnosis of hypothyroidism, patients should go to the hospital in a timely manner to clarify the cause of the disease, carry out targeted treatment, and use the correct medication under the guidance of the doctor.
