Measles is an acute respiratory infection caused by the measles virus that can occur throughout the year, but is more frequent in winter and spring, mainly through airborne transmission, and is more common in infants and children under 6 years of age, but in recent years there has been an increasing trend in the incidence of measles in adolescents and adults over 15 years of age. Patients with measles are the only source of infection, and the infectious period is generally from 2 days before to 5 days after rash onset. The incubation period for measles is generally 6-21 days. The clinical manifestations of measles are fever and upper respiratory tract khat symptoms, photophobia, ocular discharge, conjunctival congestion, small white dots on the buccal mucosa opposite the second molars of the oral cavity, called “Koch’s spots”, and a rash appearing all over the body on the 4th-5th day after the onset of the disease, first behind the ear between the hair, gradually spreading to the forehead, face, neck, limbs, and finally to the forehead. The rash appears on the whole body on the 4th-5th day after the onset of the disease. The rash fades and leaves light brown pigmented spots. Once the measles should be treated early isolation, the isolation period is 5 days after the rash, with complications extended to 10 days. Close contacts should be placed under medical observation for 21 days, and emergency measles vaccination should be administered. The measles should be treated promptly, and lasting immunity can be obtained after the measles is cured. The best way to prevent measles is to get a measles vaccination. The current immunization program for measles vaccine in China is 8 full months early immunization, 18 months when the booster immunization, the province also requires a booster immunization at the age of 6. 2 years old before the completion of the two immunizations should actively go to the vaccination clinics within the jurisdiction of the measles vaccine or combined vaccines containing measles to obtain protective antibodies. You should also take care of your personal hygiene and keep your windows open regularly to keep the indoor air fresh and circulating; wash your hands regularly; dry your clothes and blankets regularly; and spend more time outdoors. If you know someone around you who has measles, you should isolate them and avoid close contact with them, and if your measles vaccination history is unknown, you should go to the relevant units for emergency vaccination to prevent infection. In the event of measles, it is not terrible to go to the hospital and be isolated in time to avoid infecting others outside.
