Patients with Asperger’s Syndrome can be rehabilitated through social behavior training, communication and language skills practice, and metaphor-seeking practice.
1. Social behavior training: It mainly refers to creating opportunities to assist the development of social behaviors, and imitating and feeling through observing other people’s interactions. Encourage the patient to participate in group activities to establish proper social skills. When the patient encounters difficult social situations, he/she can be taught to seek assistance and avoid changing itineraries and environments as much as possible.
2. Communication and language skills practice: This mainly refers to learning to clarify ambiguous statements to others, and encouraging the patient to recognize his/her own deficiencies and not to answer casually.
3. Searching for metaphors: Imitate the clues in other children’s conversations and learn how to respond, interrupt and change the subject. Since the patient is weak in interpreting textual metaphors, it is important to explain the hidden meanings of words.
If the diagnosis of Asperger’s syndrome is confirmed, timely intervention education and training should be provided to correct the abnormal behavior and improve the child’s social skills. No delay should be made to avoid delaying the condition.
