Laboratory tests: laboratory tests mainly include smear test, viral culture, blood routine, etc. When doing smear test, a small amount of tissue is scraped from the base of the blisters for smear, and multinucleated giant cells and intranuclear inclusion bodies are found, which helps in diagnosis; viral culture can clarify whether there is viral infection and the type of virus, which is the gold standard for diagnosing herpes virus infection.
If the patient has a bacterial infection, a routine blood test can be done to check for changes in the white blood cell count.
