When a child’s eye is hit, the severity of the condition can be determined by symptoms such as eye pain and vision loss, eye examination and auxiliary examination, and other related tests.
1. Symptoms: If the child has eye pain, swelling of the eyelid and loss of vision after being hit in the eye, it may indicate that the condition is more serious.
2. Relevant examination: Objective examination is the main method to determine whether the child’s eye trauma is serious or not, mainly including eye examination and auxiliary examination.
(1) Ophthalmologic examination: It includes the use of visual acuity charts to assess the level of visual acuity, testing the movement status of the eyeballs, and the use of slit lamps to check whether there is any damage in the eye and funduscopic examination, etc. If there is any foreign body or damage in the eye of the patient, the condition will be more serious.
(2) Auxiliary examination: Auxiliary examination is mainly used for children who are suspected of having foreign body or orbital fracture, including CT, ultrasound, etc. If the patient has foreign body in the eye or orbital fracture, it is more serious.
It is recommended that children with ocular trauma should consult the doctor in time to evaluate their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
