How soon can surgery be performed after neoadjuvant chemotherapy for gastric cancer

For progressive gastric cancer, if the depth of tumor invasion is deeper, such as invasion to subplasma which is T3 stage, or there are lymph node metastasis around the stomach, that is, there may be positive lymph nodes present, neoadjuvant chemotherapy is needed, but each research institution is different, some places can do surgery directly. Usually, 2-3 cycles of chemotherapy will be followed by re-examination, such as pelvic enhancement CT and MRI, to assess whether the lesions have shrunk and whether the lymph nodes around the gastric cancer have turned negative, and to decide whether surgery is the next step. Surgery can only be performed 2 months after the completion of neoadjuvant chemotherapy, mainly because the chemotherapy period may affect the tissues, and if the interval is short, complications will increase after surgery.
