How soon to remove laparoscopic drainage tube

Laparoscopic surgery is performed due to the small opening and small area of operation. Usually no drains are placed, but if the local inflammatory exudate of the intraoperative lesion is high, placement of drains is considered, and they are usually removed in about 3-7 days without any specific lesion, and most of them are removed in about 3 days. However, intraoperative or postoperative accidents, conditions not evaluated before surgery, and the patient’s own physical condition may cause a longer time to remove the drainage tube after surgery. If the drainage fluid from the drainage tube is <50mL per day and decreases gradually, consider removal. If there is no pus in the drainage tube and there is no longer more bloody fluid, extraction is also considered. However, if removed prematurely, the collection of bloody fluid or pus in the abdominal cavity can further lead to the development of peritonitis.
