What to do if your child has been in contact with a child with HFMD

Hand, foot and mouth disease is a common pediatric infectious disease, usually caused by EV71, coxsackievirus enterovirus. Having been in contact with a pediatric patient with HFMD, there is a possibility that he or she may be infected. Parents should pay close attention to the child’s mental condition, body temperature and diet, and should ensure that the child has a balanced and reasonable diet, appropriate physical exercise, and adequate sleep, so that the child’s immunity rises and is more conducive to resisting the virus and thus will not be infected. This will prevent the child from being infected by the HFMD virus. Parents should closely observe their children’s status and, if necessary, go to the hospital for early blood tests to see if they are infected with the virus.
