Treatment of combined gestational diabetes

The treatment for gestational diabetes is currently divided into dietary therapy and insulin therapy. Once diagnosed with gestational diabetes, diet control is the first treatment modality to be used. However, what many people misunderstand is that diet control means eating less or no food, especially starchy foods. The result is often that the blood sugar seems to drop temporarily, but the baby’s nutrition is not ensured and therefore other nutritional problems can arise. Therefore, diet therapy is not to blindly eat less or no certain food, but to adjust the diet structure and improve the diet quantity in a scientific and reasonable way according to the specific situation of each pregnant woman under the guidance of a nutritionist, with the aim of effectively controlling blood sugar and ensuring the healthy growth of the fetus. When the blood sugar cannot be completely controlled by diet therapy, insulin therapy should be considered. In the process of insulin use, it is also necessary to strictly control the diet to prevent blood sugar fluctuations caused by improper diet, which makes it difficult for doctors to adjust the insulin dose.
