Do optimal treatment options exist for membranous nephropathy?

In principle, there is no optimal treatment plan for membranous nephropathy. Due to the different severity of the patients’ conditions, the suitable treatments are also different, usually general treatment, symptomatic treatment and immunosuppressive treatment can be used.
1. General treatment: patients with membranous nephropathy should pay attention to rest, prevent infection, and those with stabilized condition can have appropriate activities to prevent venous thrombosis.
2. Symptomatic treatment: angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors such as captopril and valsartan and angiotensin II receptor antagonists are mainly used to reduce the urinary protein of the patients, while anticoagulant treatments such as warfarin and aspirin and lipid modulation therapy with atorvastatin are also used.
3. Immunosuppressive therapy: commonly used glucocorticoid drugs and immunosuppressants, hormones including prednisone, methylprednisolone; immunosuppressants including cyclophosphamide, cyclosporine, tacrolimus and so on.
Patients with membranous nephropathy should go to the hospital in time, and choose the appropriate program under the guidance of the doctor to avoid further progression of the disease.
