Ulcerative colitis can be treated with general treatment, medication and surgery. 1. General treatment: patients are advised to pay attention to rest and eat a balanced diet. Patients who are allergic or intolerant to cow’s milk are advised to limit the intake of dairy products. 2. Drug therapy: Aminosalicylic acid drugs (such as mesalazine) can play an anti-inflammatory role, suitable for mild to moderate patients. Glucocorticosteroids (e.g., prednisolone) can play an anti-inflammatory role and inhibit the immune response, and are suitable for patients with moderately to severely active disease. Immunomodulators (e.g., azathioprine) are primarily used for maintenance therapy after disease remission. Biologic agents (e.g., infliximab) can be used to induce remission and maintenance therapy in more severe patients. 3. Surgical treatment: In patients with complicated intestinal hemorrhage, intestinal obstruction, and toxic megacolon, colectomy is recommended. Patients diagnosed with ulcerative colitis are recommended to go to the hospital in time. Drugs are recommended to be used under the guidance of a doctor.
