Adnexal zone pain refers to pain in the lower abdomen in the area on either side of the uterus, close to the appendix area on the body. Adnexa refers to the part of the female reproductive system that includes the ovaries, fallopian tubes, parietal tissues and attached ligaments and tunica. Pain in the adnexal region is caused by gynecological inflammation, endometriosis, organic lesions of the ovaries and fallopian tubes, and the pain may be unilateral or bilateral. In case of ovarian and fallopian tube inflammation, the course of the disease is longer, and the symptoms mostly appear before and after cold, exertion or menstruation, and the thickening of paraphimosis can be detected on examination, and the pressure pain or rebound pain may be positive. In case of endometriosis foci, there may be pelvic-abdominal adhesion symptoms and uterine tenderness in addition to pain on both sides of the uterus. In case of pain caused by ovarian cysts, tubal cysts and fluid retention, an obvious mass will be palpable on the uterus and the site of pain may change with the movement of the mass.
