Coughing characteristics of a foreign body in the trachea

Tracheal foreign body cough is characterized by a sudden and violent cough during feeding, usually a dry cough, the disease cough is choking, accompanied by breath-holding, and even facial bruising, and severe respiratory distress and death by asphyxiation can occur. If a foreign body enters one side of the bronchus, it is manifested as a paroxysmal cough and also wheezing. If a patient has a foreign body in the trachea, it can be removed under direct vision with laryngoscopy or bronchoscopy in the absence of obvious respiratory distress. If it falls into the bronchus, it must be removed with a bronchoscope. If the foreign body is large and serious, depending on the condition of the patient’s foreign body, a tracheotomy may also be performed if the foreign body is blocking the larynx, vocal cords, or is at the upper end of the main trachea.
