There is a relationship between asthma and cat ownership. Asthma, short for bronchial asthma, is a chronic inflammatory condition of the airways involving a variety of cells and cellular components. Its specific etiology is related to both genetic and environmental factors. Among the environmental factors, allergens or allergens play an important role in the development of asthma. In layman’s terms, most asthma patients have certain allergic factors that predispose them to acute attacks when exposed to allergenic substances such as pollen, dust, mites, cold air, and animal dander, among others. Cats are one of the most common animals, and the dander they produce is also the most common allergenic substance. If a person has a history of asthma owning a cat, the frequency and probability of acute attacks will be elevated. For asthma without allergic factors, owning a cat may not necessarily cause an acute attack. Therefore, if possible, do not keep cats without clarification.
