The causes of eye swelling and leg swelling are mainly considered four points: the first point, hypoproteinemia, long-term malnutrition leads to reduced albumin synthesis capacity, resulting in hypoproteinemia, decreased intravascular colloid osmotic pressure, tissue edema, mainly manifested as eye swelling and leg swelling, as sunken edema. The second point, liver disease, is mostly seen in the end stage of various liver diseases. Inability to synthesize albumin in liver failure and reduced inactivation of aldosterone also lead to water and sodium retention in the body and tissue edema, which manifests as leg and eye swelling. The third point, end-stage renal manifestations, mostly seen in nephrotic syndrome, with massive water loss and hypoproteinemia, which causes interstitial edema. The fourth point, heart disease, acute left heart failure often presents with edema of the lower extremities and facial swelling.
