Composition of the formula of Wen Bile Tang

Wen Bile Tang is composed of Semixia, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae Praeparatae, Rhizoma Bamboo Roots, Poria, and Citrus Aurantium.
The original formula of Wen Gallbladder Tang is from “Fang Lun, Three Causes and Extremely One Disease Diagnosis”. The function of this formula is to regulate qi, resolve phlegm, clear bile and harmonize the stomach. It is mainly used for treating bile-stomach disharmony and internal disturbance of phlegm-heat. Symptoms include timidity and fearfulness (fearfulness in the heart, not daring to see others, easily frightened), restlessness caused by deficiency heat, insomnia, dizziness, nausea, hiccups, epilepsy, and so on.
In this formula, Semixia dries dampness and resolves phlegm (dispelling dampness by drying dampness and dissolving phlegm), harmonizes the stomach and stops vomiting; Bamboo Root clears the gallbladder and the stomach, clears heat and resolves phlegm, removes vexation and stops vomiting; Poria seeps away dampness and strengthens the spleen in order to eliminate phlegm; Hovenia Citri Reticulatae breaks down the qi and resolves phlegm; Radix Glycyrrhiza Glutinosa harmonizes the medicines (harmonizes the properties of different medicinal herbs), and benefits the qi and the zhong (replenishes qi and harmonizes the spleen and stomach). The combination of these herbs is effective in regulating Qi and resolving phlegm, clearing the gallbladder and harmonizing the stomach.
If you need to take this formula, you should consult a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner for diagnosis and take it under the guidance of a doctor, please do not use it blindly, so as to avoid damage to the body caused by wrong use of medicine.
