Ureteral stent tube removal in women is only mildly painful and is overwhelmingly tolerated. The pain level is approximately similar to the pain of a catheter insertion or a brief period of pain relative to an IV infusion. Because removal of the ureteral stent tube is minimally invasive, no incision or hospitalization is required. All that is required is to use a cystoscope to enter the bladder through the urethra, see the ureteral stent tube under direct vision, and then use the forceps used to remove the tube from the bladder. This procedure is relatively short in duration and can be completed in about 1-2 minutes with only slight painful irritation in the urethra. There may be a transient pain in the lower back and abdomen during the extraction process, which lasts for a relatively short time of about 3-5 seconds to finish. Therefore, the removal of ureteral stent tubes in women is only mildly painful, does not require hospitalization as well as no incision, and lasts about 1-2 minutes, and most women can tolerate this pain.
