Atorvastatin has no effect on the concentration of cyclosporine, but cyclosporine can increase the blood concentration of atorvastatin. Overseas scholars designed a randomized controlled study involving 21 renal transplant patients proved that atorvastatin and cyclosporine together can effectively reduce cholesterol, but there is no significant effect on the blood concentration of cyclosporine. Cyclosporine can increase the blood concentration and bioavailability of atorvastatin by inhibiting the activity of cytochrome P4503A4 enzyme and P-glycoprotein as well as organic anion transporting polypeptide 1B1. Atorvastatin and cyclosporine can be used together clinically, although drug interactions can occur, and it is recommended that they be used under the guidance of a medical professional.
