Can adults receive BCG vaccine?

BCG vaccination is generally not recommended for adults because of the limited immune effect of adult vaccination and the risk of serious vaccination reactions in adults. Our vaccination program stipulates that for newborns whose gestational age is greater than or equal to 37 weeks and whose birth weight is greater than or equal to 2.5 kg, BCG vaccination is administered within 48 hours of birth. In the case of premature babies, the BCG vaccination can be administered directly after meeting the requirements for correcting gestational age and weight, usually within three months of birth. From three months of age to three years of age, a catch-up vaccination can be given if the PPD test is negative.
