What causes pain after chemotherapy

Pain after chemotherapy may be caused by drug stimulation, inflammation stimulation, lesion stimulation and other reasons. 1. Drug stimulation: most chemotherapy drugs have different degrees of neurotoxicity, so the use of chemotherapy drugs may lead to damage to the peripheral nerves of the extremities of the patient, pain. Some patients may also suffer from hair loss, loss of appetite and other adverse reactions. 2. Inflammatory stimulation: chemotherapeutic drugs can destroy tumor cells after entering the body, and some inflammatory factors may be released during the process of tumor cell necrosis. When the inflammatory factor stimulates the nerves in the body, it may induce pain, and the patient may also suffer from low fever. 3. Stimulation of lesions: before chemotherapy, patients may have no pain because of the edema of the peripheral membrane caused by the large lesions in the patient’s body; after chemotherapy, the lesions in the patient’s body shrink, which may lead to a reduction in the degree of edema of the peripheral membrane, and the function of nerves in the affected area will be restored accordingly. When the local nerve is stimulated by the lesion, pain will appear. Post-chemotherapy pain is a common symptom during chemotherapy, if the pain is more serious, it is recommended that the patient consult a doctor in a timely manner, follow the doctor’s instructions for symptomatic treatment, do not self-medication.
