Chinese medicines that activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis are in fact divided into several categories, including those that break blood circulation and those that activate blood circulation, and they are not of the same degree. Now, many laboratory researches have confirmed that Chinese medicines that break blood circulation and remove blood stasis will actually promote the flow rate of blood, and the faster flow rate of blood will form a shear force, which will not easily allow cancer cells to adhere to the walls of blood vessels, and therefore, patients who are prone to metastasis tend to have high coagulation of blood, a hypercoagulable state. Therefore, patients who are prone to metastasis tend to have a higher blood coagulation state, a high coagulation state, so from this aspect, it will not cause metastasis. There is an opposite view, that is, there are special studies on certain special Chinese medicines, such as danshen, in which there is some literature that found that the use of danshen-type medicines, including infusion of danshenic acid, danshenone or danshenchuanxiongzine containing danshen-type medicines, the comparative data show that the chance of metastasis is a little bit higher. Therefore, Chinese medicine generally tries not to use danshen, but to use panax ginseng, which although they both have the effect of activating the blood, can activate the blood, can also stop bleeding, and can also resolve blood stasis, and modern research has confirmed that panax ginseng does not cause metastasis. So for the controversial ones, like Dan Shen, this kind of Chinese medicine should be avoided as much as possible.
