After circumcision, post-operative recovery is mainly based on resting recovery, equivalent to surgery on other parts of the body. There are tiny local wounds on the foreskin that can heal on their own over time, and patients only need to avoid excessive activity during the healing process. Excessive activity can lead to increased friction between the external genital area and the outer garment and pants, resulting in localized pain that can interfere with healing. Patients also need to avoid contaminating the wound with urine during urination because sometimes, if urine inadvertently contaminates the wound during urination, it may cause wound infection, which may affect wound healing. It is also necessary to follow the doctor’s instructions to regularly go to the hospital to change the medication, check the healing of the wound and make adjustments to the treatment if necessary. During the dressing change, if the wound is found to be red, swollen or with secretions, the wound can be thoroughly disinfected and topical anti-infection or infection prevention drugs can be applied to promote faster wound healing, which takes about 10-14 days.
